How to Confirm a Detention Center Release

G.S. 132-6 calls for inspection at reasonable times and copies as promptly as possible. The office need not create a record that does not exist, and confidential material can be withheld while public portions are separated when possible.

Graham County Jail Repairs and Releases
July 25, 2025 special-meeting minutes record a distinctive continuity decision. Officials considered moving prisoners to other counties during remediation, but chose to keep the jail operating and temporarily relocate booking functions. The official meeting minutes document that choice.
The county project page and architectural-finishes manual document repair work at the older active jail while a new Justice Center remains planned. Those materials do not establish that the current jail closed, that a replacement facility opened, or that neighboring counties routinely house Graham prisoners. The county master plan confirms Sheriff responsibility for daily jail operation, central booking, and inmate transport, but it does not publish regular destinations.
